Contact LensesWe fit and supply a full range of contact lenses including:-
Gas permeable Gas permeable or hard lenses are usually fitted for daily wear fulltime wearers. Whilst they are less comfortable in the initial stages, they are durable, easy to keep clean and much less likely to cause problems with eye infections. They are recommended for young people and teenagers.
For experienced wearers there are available the new very high gas permeable lenses that it is possible to leave in overnight and are therefore particularly suitable for people who need on occasion to leave lenses in for extended periods of time such as all night fishermen or people who spend nights out on mountain sides.
Gas permeable lenses are also particualy useful for people who have astigmatism or high prescriptions.
Soft Lenses There are roughly three types of soft lenses.
Daily Wear lenses are particualerly suited to people who want to wear lenses on a regular basis. Most people are now using monthly disposable lenses as soft lenses are not easy to keep clean and frequent replacement seems to be the key to keeping people comfortable with their lenses. Monthly replacement also means that cleaning of the lenses can be kept to a minimum.
Single use contact lenses are ideal for people who just want to wear lenses for occasions or just for sport. The lenses are very comfortable right from the moment of insertion and can be worn for much of the day. On removal the lenses are discarded. They are usually sold in boxes of 60 pairs and can be ordered as required. There is of course no cleaning involved or solutions necessary.
30 day contact lenses are for experienced users and can be worn continuously for up to 30 days without removal and then discarded. They are a viable alternative to laser surgery involving no permanent change to the eye and the facility to be altered if the prescription changes. |
